The BBC News School Report News Day takes place nationally on Thursday, March 11, 2010 with over 700 schools set tp take part. Students will begin work at 8.30am looking at the news events that are breaking that day.

They will select two stories to cover: one local story about either school or the Tees Valley; and one national or international story. They will need to research, write, record and edit their reports ready for a live broadcast at 2pm.

Through the course of the morning, students will be required to work in small groups and as one large team in order to make the choices of which stories will be used in their main bulletin.

When the clock hits 2pm the studio lights will go up and the cameras roll as the two anchors follow the script and present the news, live to an audience online at this location.

For their part, the BBC will be running a high profile event across the entire network of television and radio channels as well as on BBCi through the red button.

Already the students are working on their features for the day and some of them can be viewed on the relevant pages on this website. The day itself is shaping up to be a fast-paced, high energy, learning experience for all involved as the school students become School Reporters.

Where will you be?

I would appreciate all feedback you have on this site, your thoughts on the project or messages of support for the pupils on the big day. Please send the school report team an e-mail at sw@egglescliffe.org.uk. Thanks - Steve Wilkinson.
